The equivalent of two swimming pools worth of fresh water are released into the Snowy River every hour, just to keep environmentalists happy. This water goes straight to the ocean and is basically wasted.
If we used this water in the Murray-Darling basin instead, it could be used for productive agriculture, and minimise the need for importing eco-costly produce into Australia.
