Community Leaders Forums
Alongside Zero Footprint Week, the One at a Time Foundation will roll out in 2008 "Towards 2050: Visions of a Sustainable Australia" Community Leaders Forums.
Working with local Councils, the Forums bring together local community leaders to develop a vision of their local area in 2050 as a sustainable community.
Working with an experienced facilitator in the Forum, community leaders address key questions such as:
- What would our community look like if it was ecologically sustainable in 2050?
- How would the community have secured water supplies, reduced carbon emissions as well as achieved sustainable economic growth?
- What could we achieve as a whole community, if we worked in greater partnership and shared our resources to meet the challenges of climate change?
During the Forum, expert presentations offer up to date information about climate change impacts in the local community and information is also provided on existing sustainable development programs. Each forum, action plans for the next 2 to 5 years will be developed and each participant will receive a forum report.
Zero Footprint Week
To tackle climate change, we all need to reduce our ecological footprint.
Zero Foot Print Week is a national community awareness week which aims to show how simple changes can be made to reduce our ecological footprint.
In partnership with other organizations, each day of Zero Foot Print Week will focus on a different theme and provide simple tips on how to reduce our impact on the environment in the home, office, in business, on farms and while on holiday.
